When I was 15 1/2, I bought a pair of sunglasses to celebrate getting my learner's permit. My original goal was to have them last at least until I got my driver's license. I paid $9.99 for them. My dad said he thought I would lose them before my 16th birthday.
I loved those sunglasses. Not only did I manage to hang onto them well past my birthday, I managed to hang onto them into and past college. Those sunglasses have been sat on, stepped on, and left in the hot car to melt. They still survived and thrived. They've been to France, Israel, Canada, North Carolina, and Virginia. I wore them in an Air Force uniform, in missionary attire, and in normal clothing. Those sunglasses were a part of me.
Last week I went to put them on and the temple snapped clean off. There's no repairing them. It's time to move on and find a new pair. I hope I can find another pair as good and sturdy.
